Begin with the source, not your memory
If an order, notice, deadline, or court date has created the urgent question, keep the complete source document first. Save every page, attachment, envelope or delivery record when relevant, and the official portal or email details that identify where it came from.
Make a working note with the court name, case number, document title, filed or issued date, date received, and any event or deadline printed on the document. Keep that note separate from the original so your summary cannot accidentally replace or alter the source.
If two records appear to conflict, keep both and label the conflict as a question. Do not silently choose the date that seems more likely.
