Terms of Service

Last updated: December 2025

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Equalora.ai (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Equalora.ai is a software-as-a-service platform that helps users organize family law information, upload and review documents, track deadlines, and receive AI-generated educational content.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Not legal advice

The Service is for education and organization only and does not provide legal advice. No attorney–client relationship is formed by using the Service. You are solely responsible for your filings, representations, and decisions.

4. Not for emergencies or urgent situations

The Service is not designed for emergencies or time-critical situations. Do not use Equalora.ai as a substitute for contacting a qualified attorney, emergency services, or other appropriate professionals. If you believe you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services immediately.

5. Your account

  • Keep your login credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes on someone else's rights.
  • Upload or share content that attempts to disclose someone else's sensitive personal information without authorization.
  • Attempt to hack, overload, or disrupt the Service.
  • Reverse engineer or misuse the Service beyond the allowed interface.
  • Use the Service to generate or distribute malware, phishing, or other abusive activity.

7. Subscriptions, payments, and trials

Certain features may require a paid subscription. Billing is handled securely through Stripe. If we offer a free trial, it will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.

8. AI-generated content

AI outputs may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. You should treat all AI suggestions as draft material and review them carefully before relying on them. You are responsible for verifying anything you use in court filings, declarations, communications, or other consequential decisions. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.

9. Intellectual property

We own all rights in the Service, including software, design, and branding, except for content you upload. You retain ownership of your documents and data. You grant us a limited license to process that data solely to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or pose a risk to other users. Upon termination, we may delete or restrict access to your data according to our Data Retention & Deletion Policy.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of accuracy, non-infringement, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Equalora.ai and its owners, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, goodwill, or data arising from or related to your use of the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Equalora.ai's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to Equalora.ai for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim (or $100 if you have not paid anything).

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Equalora.ai and its owners, employees, contractors, and partners from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service, (b) content you upload or provide, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

14. Dispute resolution, arbitration, and class action waiver

Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@equalora.ai and provide a brief description of the dispute and your contact information. The parties will try in good faith to resolve the dispute within 30 days.

Binding arbitration. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, you and Equalora.ai agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if eligible. Arbitration will be conducted on an individual basis.

Class action waiver. You and Equalora.ai agree that each may bring claims against the other only in your or its individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.

Jury trial waiver. To the extent any claim is not subject to arbitration, you and Equalora.ai waive any right to a trial by jury.

Note: Arbitration terms can vary by jurisdiction. If any portion of this section is found unenforceable, the remainder will remain in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent a dispute is not subject to arbitration, any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless otherwise required by law.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we may also provide additional notice within the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
